IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVEMBER 16, 2004
The accounting and business consulting firm of David B. Robinson, CPA, located in the Historic 1850s Ivymont Manor House in Midlothian, is pleased to announce that its principal, David Robinson, has been appointed by Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner to the Board of Directors of the Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authority (“ATLFA”).
The ATLFA was created by the Virginia General Assembly as a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia and is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of twelve members, including ten citizens--a majority of whom are persons with disabilities. All members of the ATLFA Board are appointed by the Governor and are approved by the Virginia General Assembly.
The purpose of the ATLFA is to provide loans to disabled Virginians for the purpose of acquiring assistive technology to help them become more independent or become more productive members of their communities. The ATLFA uses Federal and State Grants and other funding received from the taxpayers of Virginia and other sources to buy down interest rates of lending institutions making loans and also provides loan guarantees for loans made.
Of his appointment, David Robinson stated “I am very pleased that Governor Warner decided to add me to the ATLFA Board. I heartily embrace the ATLFA’s mission to make sure that favorable credit financing for the purchase of specialized equipment for persons with disabilities is always available. I’ll be working with the ATLFA to help people with disabilities to find funding to renovate residences to include ramps, roll-in showers, and environmental and other specialized controls. I’ll also be helping them help the disabled acquire and modify vehicles to accommodate a specific disability as well as make sure that no disabled Virginian goes without a wheelchair, electronic scooter, computer with voice input and output, hearing aid, low vision aid, communication device or any type of equipment whatsoever that does not allow them to reach their maximum potential.”
The ATLFA was established by the General Assembly of Virginia in 1995. It is headquartered at 1602 Rolling Hills Drive in Henrico County. More information about the ATLFA can be obtained by visiting www.atlfa.org
