FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAY 5, 1999
The Accounting and Business Consulting Firm of David B. Robinson, CPA, headquartered in the Historic Ivymont Manor House in Midlothian, Virginia is pleased to announce that on April 29, 1999 it was granted the exclusive rights within the Commonwealth of Virginia to use the Service Mark “greatcpa.” The Certificate of Registration of a Service Mark issued by the Virginia State Corporation Commission stated that “greatcpa” would designate “Certified Public Accounting services and professional business advice” for David B. Robinson, CPA.
Obtaining the rights to use this Service Mark strengthens the firm’s marketing efforts that commenced in 1990. The specific use of the acronym “greatcpa” occurred as part of the evolution of the firm’s Internet Website at www.greatcpa.com. The Website was developed in 1994 under another domain name; the current domain name was secured in early 1997.
David Robinson, the firm’s principal, stated that “the use of “greatcpa” in marketing efforts other than those directly associated with the Internet domain name will strengthen the ‘branding’ that I have tried to associate myself with since I founded my firm in 1990.”
Robinson continued that he has “always tried to associate myself with
a unique level of passion and enthusiasm not usually associated with Certified
Public Accountants. I consider myself to have been in the forefront
in Virginia with delivering a unique level of solutions-oriented assistance
and those words ‘passion’ and ‘enthusiasm’ have always been a hallmark.
The designation by the Virginia State Corporation Commission that we will
be allowed to use greatcpa as one of the official Service Marks
of my firm bring my efforts full circle.”
On August 30, 1993, the Accounting and Business Consulting Firm of David B. Robinson, CPA was issued ten year trademark rights for the use of the trademark “Tax Fax” for its weekly news publication covering tax and business matters that is delivered electronically by facsimile machine and over the Internet. It has defended the trademark in Virginia against other accounting firms and the Internal Revenue Service. It has used this trademark to publish over 300 weekly issues of its newsletter, “Tax Fax,” since June of 1993.
The Accounting and Business Consulting Firm of David B. Robinson, CPA, founded in 1990, is the largest Certified Public Accounting Firm in Midlothian. Robinson started the firm with five clients and the firm now has approximately 775 clients. In January, 1998, the firm opened a second office at the 700 Centre in downtown Richmond. Robinson also hosts a weekly radio talk show, “The Entrepreneurs’ Hour” on local radio stations WVNZ 990AM and WHAP 1340AM.
Robinson’s great-grandfather, Charles Morrison Robinson, was the first Robinson family member to commence business in downtown Richmond, doing so in 1905. Charles Morrison Robinson was recently recognized by Style Magazine as one of the Most Influential Richmonders of the Twentieth Century.
Robinson is the United States Government's Small Business Administration’s
