David Robinson, principal of the accounting and business consulting firm of David B. Robinson, CPA, headquartered in the Historic 1850s Ivymont Manor House in Midlothian, announced that he has accepted an appointment by the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors to its newly-formed Chesterfield County Tax Structure Committee.
Mr. Robinson was appointed as the Midlothian District representative to the Committee by Edward Barber, the Board of Supervisors member elected from the Midlothian District. Each Board of Supervisors member made three appointments to the Committee plus the board as a group made additional appointments for a total of 20 members.
The Chesterfield County Tax Structure Committee will, after careful study of the Countys existing tax laws, develop and make recommendations directly to the Board of Supervisors for it to consider concerning changes and modifications that the Committee feels should be made to the current system of business and personal taxation in Chesterfield County. Recommended changes could include, but not be limited to business license, business personal property and real estate taxes. The Committee will meet periodically and deliver reports to the Board of Supervisors. The Committee has been directed by the Board to develop and make recommendations that are "revenue neutral" that would enhance the fairness of the system of taxation through an examination of the individual types of taxes.
