FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TO ALL CLIENTS, FRIENDS AND BUSINESS ASSOCIATES
MAY 28, 1998
The accounting and business consulting firm of David B. Robinson, CPA, with offices at the historic Ivymont Manor House in Midlothian and in the 700 Centre in downtown Richmond, is pleased to announce that Mr. David B. Robinson, CPA is the host of a new weekly radio program, “The Entrepreneur’s Hour,” to air on WVNZ ALL NEWS 990AM from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays starting June 5, 1998.
David B. Robinson, CPA was established in 1990 with five clients; the firm has approximately 700 now. It offers a variety of tax preparation, accounting, and business consulting services, including Internet website design, programming and marketing. The firm’s founder, David B. Robinson, is a 1984 graduate of the University of Richmond and also attended Douglas S. Freeman High School.
Mr. Robinson was recently selected by the U. S. Government’s Small Business Administration as the 1998 Virginia Accountant Advocate of the Year.
Mr. Robinson is considered to be a regional expert on small business issues, including taxation, entity structure, marketing issues and the use of the Internet. He has been recognized nationally as an expert on issues facing small public accounting firms. His company has won national recognition for innovation in the traditional field of public accounting through awards from Inc. magazine and Harcourt Brace Professional Publishing.
Mr. Robinson stated that “the decision to host the program is an exciting one. I’ve done pre-recorded radio programs before, but this will be a live, call-in format.” Among the activities that he has previously been involved in is the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants “CALL 12 CPA Tax Hotline,” held at WWBT Television station in Richmond during the tax filing season. In 1998, Mr. Robinson participated in ten one hour programs. The Society recognized Mr. Robinson for “personally taking several hundred of the 1,500 or so calls that came into the station over ten weeks.”
The format of the new WVNZ radio show will be to feature successful business people from in and around Richmond who will talk about their businesses and their successes. Calls will be solicited from the listening audience to talk about their own businesses and their strategies for success.
WVNZ signed on the air in Richmond in January 1997. Its facility at 306 West Broad Street is the home to the station’s 24 hour-a-day programming. General Manager, Mike Mazursky, said that Robinson’s show will be the lead-off to a new format of programming for weekend listeners. Mr. Mazursky stated, “eventually, we will have several Richmond business owners doing their own shows on Saturdays and Sundays--Robinson’s will be the lead off. His will be different as it will feature guests and a call-in format. I’m excited about David’s show--it has a lot of possibilities.”
The show’s first program--June 5th--coincides with the end of National Small Business Week, coordinated by the U. S. Small Business Administration. It will be celebrated with special events across the country from May 31 through June 6.
Robinson states that June 5th will be a big day for him. He is to be named the 1998 Virginia Accountant Advocate of the Year at a Luncheon at Richmond’s Marriott Hotel at a noontime ceremony presided over by Senator John Warner ad Governor Jim Gilmore. Then, at 6:30 p.m., he’ll be behind the microphone for the debut of “The Entrepreneur’s Hour.”
